Struggling with Autoimmune or Autoimmune Liver Disease?

Hello and Welcome!!!
My name is Catherine Brandau, a nurse practitioner and now a health and wellness coach, diagnosed with auto-immune illnesses that have changed the trajectory of my life. I live with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, Primary Biliary (PBC) Cholangitis, Sjogren’s and more.
I hope you came to my site for a reason. I know first-hand having an auto immune disease, is a daily struggle, however, it is something that can be managed.
My mission is to help women diagnosed with autoimmune diseases to reclaim control over their health and happiness by making long term lifestyle changes.
When I was first diagnosed with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) two+ years ago, I was terrified as my diagnoses continued to pile up. My mind raced with questions I didn’t have answers to.
I began to feel a deep sense of loss, grief from my decline in health and then fear set in.
What does this mean for me long term?
How do I live with yet another disease?
What can I do to improve my health?
Am I always going to feel this tired and struggle with this much brain fog?
Quickly, I realized I needed to make changes. I began shifting my perspective, focusing on what I could control, and learning how to live a more fulfilling life with autoimmune disease.
Today, there are many things I do differently.
I listen to my body, what my body is trying to tell me. Rest, movement, and nourishment to sustain my body are no longer optional—they are my foundation.
I prioritize my health and have set boundaries to lower my stress. I focus on what truly matters. My health has given me meaningful clarity. I spend my energy and time on what matters most and let go of what drains me.
Although this is a short version of what I have done to improve my overall health, the changes I have made were impactful on my mind, body and spirit. Yes, I still struggle but the ups and downs are fewer and far between.
I know the lifestyle changes I made work. I have helped others through health coaching in and out of the office.
Living with multiple auto-immune diseases is still a journey—but I’ve learned that it’s possible to move forward with courage, clarity, strength and hope. Going through my own struggles helped me to see my purpose and passion, helping other women, like you, struggling with auto-immune disease and symptoms that they can’t control.

As a health and wellness coach, and additionally a nurse practitioner, I have extensive training and knowledge in areas such as the pathophysiology of disease, disease management, nutrition, and the psychology behind goal setting-stress management and nutrition.
I take a collaborative partnership with my clients developing a solution-focused approach to better manage your health and wellness. By working together, we can identify your strengths and weaknesses and overcome obstacles. Based on your overall health and wellness, I will create a plan to help you achieve your goals. I focus on a holistic approach in treatment as this is so important to your mind, body and spirit.
I specialize and enjoy helping clients 1:1 to learn about their autoimmune disease so they may have a better understanding of their disease process, and how it effects the body. You will gain the awareness of the factors to consider when making decisions regarding your health in the disease process. Together, we partner together to tailor your diet. Learning about the foods that nourish and lower inflammation vs those that raise inflammation in your body. You would learn about movement that helps your body without overly stressing your body. Movement should not drain you rather it should improve how you feel. Stress management techniques are key as time goes on as this again is a key factor in how you feel daily.
The goal of working one on one is to move you through the process of betterment so you feel empowered and in control of your body so you can maintain a more productive meaningful life.
